Mainstream Canadian country music has a longstanding parallel that perfectly walks alongside and blends together with what is currently happening in the modern era from their neighbors to the South – specifically in Nashville.

It makes sense then, that many of Canada’s hottest country music acts call Nashville record labels and publishers their home and are carving out their unique path amongst a crowded Music City scene.

One such artist is the ultra-talented Robyn Ottolini, who has most recently impacted with “Say it” and “Trust Issues,” but first caught Nashville’s attention with her smash hit “F-150,” which landed her a record deal Warner Music Nashville.

The 2021 CCMA Rising Star of the Year now returns with her brand-new single, the highly addictive “Busy.”

Co-written by Ottolini, Seth Mosley and Jessica Cayne, the irresistible catchiness of the sway along with groove grabs your attention the moment you hit play, but it also provides the perfect match to the fun vibe of the anthem styled, kiss off lyric.

Running down a list of things that her ex did wrong during their time spent together, she sings us through the opening verse with musings about how he used to tell her that he had no time for her on Saturday’s because it was reserved for hanging out with the boys and how annoyed he was when she needed him when her dog died.

The conflict arises as Robyn pushes into the pre-chorus where she reveals that he’s now calling her and wanting to know what she’s up to, resulting in the bump into the chorus where a gang-styled “I’m busy” rings out and immediately adds a girl power touch to the song as you completely envision her and her best girlfriends crowded around one another in support of her moving on as she reveals just what it is that she’s too busy doing that’s better than hanging out with him:  nothing at all, staring at her four walls, watching the green grass growing, etc.

The second half of the song tells of what else she might get into just for fun, including cleaning her refrigerator or meeting someone and playing Bingo with them while spending money at the Pearl Casino, leading into to the cleverly written bridge where she spells out an acronym for B-U-S-Y:

B’s for Bless your heart

U’s for you messed up

S is for don’t even start and

Honey you know Y we’re done

Robyn Ottolini has been making huge strides in Nashville and attracting new fans every time she plays a show by displaying her incredible vocals, a sassy personality in her songwriting, and songs that stick with you long after you first experience them. It’s time now for the rest of the world to know one of our best kept secrets and “Busy” is the song that will take her there!
