LILY ROSE
"Truth Is"
Big Loud Records
It has been a magical year for Lily Rose, who has won awards, shared the stage with some huge names in country music while also headlining gigs across the country, and has written and released some of the more critically acclaimed songs of the year. And to cap off this incredible 2022 for the Big Loud Records artist, she is releasing another sure-to-be popular tune, “Truth Is”.
Rose has been revered as a gifted songwriter and singer for quite awhile at this point, but her ability to put those two talents together on a stage and on a record, for some reason, has only been noticed by the wide-spread country music community recently.
Her last release of 2022 incorporates all of the elements we love about Lily and her music, from her trademark twangy delivery and craftily detailed lyrics. Co-written by Rose along with Stephen Carey, Ian Christian, and Matt Morrisey (“Villain” producer), “Truth Is” tells the story of someone who is struggling with the end of a relationship, going through one of the most common emotions associated with such an experience – denial.
As she wains through her thoughts, feelings and emotions, she decides that it is easier drink away her sorrows and live in denial rather than to accept that her significant other is gone and the relationship is over.
“’Cause the minute I move on’s the minute you’re gone
So, I”ll keep hanging on a little too long
‘Cause chasin’ down what we were
With his hundred proof is
Easier to swallow than the truth is”
This release represents the end of a breakthrough year for Rose, who opened 2022 with a win at the 2022 GLAAD Awards for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist. She was the first country artist to receive the honor, which she followed up in the spring with a nomination for Best New Female Artist at the ACM Awards. She played nearly 100 shows this year while sharing the stage with the likes of Sam Hunt, Chris Lane and Dylan Scott.
The secret is out…Lily Rose’s talent and ability are no longer a secret. With dates already announced and scheduled in 2023 and a strong single release under her belt heading into the new year, we are soon to see the transition of country music’s description of Lily Rose from a breakthrough artist to a household name.
