DARIUS RUCKER
FT. CHAPEL HART
"Ol' Church Hymn"
Capitol Records Nashville
Darius Rucker’s forthcoming album is quickly becoming one of the more anticipated releases, as the Capitol Records Nashville recording artist continues to unveil high-quality new music.
The latest effort is “Ol’ Church Hymn,” a gospel-inspired love song featuring rising trio Chapel Hart. Rucker wrote the tune along with Ben Hayslip, Josh Miller, and Greyland James, offering a praise-worthy, joyful tone that is as uplifting and spiritual song we have heard hit the country music airwaves in quite some time.
Darius is on point with his vocals, with his trademark baritone delivery immediately capturing the essence of what this song is all about. The three-part harmony of Chapel Hart puts this song on another level, hitting the listener in all the right spots.
“You soothe my soul like an ol’ church hymn
Found in a book in the back of a pew
Born again love I’m a new person
Hand in the air hallelujah”
Originally slated to be a solo performance, Rucker, utterly impressed with the vocal delivery and harmonizing of the trio, made a late change and asked for the ladies to join him on the track. The results are undeniable – coming to the forefront is one of the more musically uplifting releases of the year.
“Ol’ Church Hymn” comes on the heels of Rucker’s performance with Chapel Hart of the classic Bonnie Raitt tune “Something To Talk About” on the “America’s Got Talent” season finale on NBC. Rucker’s forthcoming album, as of yet untitled, will be his first solo project since the critically acclaimed ‘When Was The Last Time’ from 2017.
