Multi-Platinum country music star Park McCollum is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming album, ‘Never Enough’.  Due out May 12, the record continues to generate anticipation and excitement with every new tune we have heard.

Enter “Tails I Lose”, the latest example of the musical maturity and evolution of the talented singer-songwriter who promises to continue his escalation up the ranks as one of the genre’s brightest young stars.

Written by Parker along with Wade Bowen, Brad Warren and Brett Warren, the tune is a refreshing throwback to the classic country sound that made so many of us fall in love with the genre years ago.  But this is not an ode to a country song from years ago as other artists have done in recent years.  This song represents a diverse element to McCollum’s style, which is incredibly rare for a young singer-songwriter still relatively new to the mainstream country scene.

There are all the elements of a retro-country tune, from the steel guitar to the storytelling nature of the lyrics, but still, he remains true to his own style, incorporating his already-notable signature delivery throughout the track.

The use of effective lyrical imagery puts the listener right in the eyes, ears and heart of the singer, and the emotional connection conveyed through is vocals is spot on, something we have come to expect from him over the past few years.  The musical arrangement compliments the vocals flawlessly, making for an easy listen despite the track’s somber subject matter.

“Nothin’s gonna change your mind

Nothin’s gonna change my love

Might as well toss this last dance jukebox quarter up

I’ve done everything I can

It don’t matter where it lands

Ain’t a damn thing I can do

It’s heads you win, tails I lose”

This is the latest release from an album that has already spawned the highly regarded and rightfully touted tunes “Speed,” “I Ain’t Going Nowhere,” and “Stoned,” as well as the smash hit “Handle On You,” which is currently rapidly climbing up the charts

Since his debut EP, ‘Hollywood Gold’, instantly made headlines in 2020 and achieved two top singles, “Pretty Heart” and “To Be Loved By You”, Parker has made his Grand Ole Opry debut and earned his first ACM Award for New Male Artist of the Year as well as his first CMT Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year.
