After what has seemed like an eternity, country music fans across the globe are now embracing new releases from superstar Tim McGraw.  The three-time Grammy Award-winner’s latest, “Hey Whiskey”, is available everywhere now via Big Machine Records.

The new tune is the next taste of his highly anticipated new album, the 13-track ‘Standing Room Only’, due out on August 25^th.  It is his first new record since ‘Here On Earth’ in 2020, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart.

“Hey Whiskey” finds McGraw having a frank conversation with himself through a personification of his favorite liquor, touching on the highs and lows, the trials and tribulations, the accomplishments and the disappointments of life.  Through the verses and chorus, the song explores moments of happiness and heartbreak, of loyalty and betrayal. 

As has been the case (and the expectation at this point) for his music over the years, this song is a perfect blend of Tim’s classic country sound with a touch of modern elements that lends itself to country fans of all styles and generations. 

Lyrically, this is expertly crafted, incorporating imagery and metaphors to bring the story to life right in front of the listener.  It’s an honest and self-diagnosing poem, sung through the classic trademark vocals of one of the most successful to ever do it.

“I gave you every penny in my pocket

You helped me lie and made me tell the truth

Stayed out with you all night when you came calling

Hey whiskey, what’d I ever do to you?”

In addition to the release a brand new tune, McGraw has teased the possibility of another release prior to the ‘Standing Room Only’ date of August 25^th, as well as what seems like an impending announcement of a new tour coming in 2024.  His latest major run came in 2022 as he sold out amphitheaters across the country.

In a brutally competitive industry, McGraw has been a mainstay as one of the most notable stars in music history over the past three decades.  He has tallied an incredible 68 Top 10 hits while holding the Mediabase record for most weeks at No. 1 with all titles (73 weeks) and trails only George Strait for most No. 1 albums in the United States.  With the expectation of another chart-topping album filled with hit singles and an upcoming tour on the horizon, country music fans across the world are once again anticipating another successful chapter for one of music’s legendary artists.
