In what began with his grandfather leading him to pick up his first guitar at a young age, Chris Colston is progressing his country music story with every song written, gig played, and goal accomplished.  Having released his first LP, ‘Bombs Away’ in 2020 followed by ‘Boy Like Me’ in 2022, the talented singer-songwriter continues to hone his craft while furthering his emerging reputation as one of the bright up-and-coming talents in the industry.

“Tell It To The Whiskey”, written by Colston along with Josh Dunn and Joe Lasher, is available everywhere now via AMG Records.

His latest tune tells the story of something we have all endured at some point in our lives – heartbreak.  Through the trials and tribulations associated with the end of a relationship, Chris is thinking and drinking his way through the emotional anguish of a moment in time that can be filled with anger, grief, regret, and betrayal, and everything in between.

Tell him what you told me

Cause I can’t get it through his head

And he keeps getting’ into mine

Tellin’ me just give it time

We both know that’s just a life

Truth is, girl, you ain’t gonna miss me

So tell it to the whiskey”

While the subject is certainly nothing new to the country genre, the tune’s approach to drowning ones sorrows through poetic imagery and lyrical therapy puts this song in unique company.  Produced by Brandon Hood, known for his work with Brett Eldredge and Niko Moon, among others, “Tell It To The Whiskey” incorporates the contemporary elements while also paying homage to the trademark pieces of a classic country crooner, resulting in a truly unique track that showcases its co-writer and singer and all the talents and strengths he offers, which are aplenty.

Since 2018, Chris Colston has been making a name for himself as not just a talented songwriter but also a born entertainer.  The Texas native as opened for the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Cody Johnson as well as HARDY, Parker McCollum and Mitchell Tenpenny.  With a devoted and ever-growing fanbase, Colston continues to increase his notoriety, encompassing the entire package from stage presence to songwriting ability to a voice we love to hear over the airwaves.  “Tell It To The Whiskey” is the latest feather in the cap of a talent that is well on his way to becoming a household name in country music.
