Country music singer-songwriter and Grindstone Records label head Craig Campbell is gearing up for the release of his 17-track set ‘The Lost Files: Exhibit B’ on August 25th.  The record’s new single, “Summer Soundtrack,” is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now.

Written by Campbell along with Phil O’Donnell and Wade Kirby, the tune is a summer anthem, infused with vivid imagery about special times spent and living in and loving the moment.  The veteran songwriters on this track are immediately apparent, as the ear-pleasing melodies and friendly hooks invite the listener to sing along to the relatable lyrics.

“Rhythm of a gravel road

Our song on the radio

Bare feet hanging out the window

July blowing through your toes

On our way to anywhere alone”

Craig’s vocals are spot-on, well-polished, and clearly delivered.  Frankly, this one of the more radio-friendly and mainstream tunes from him in quite some time, but also one that stays true to who he is as a songwriter, singer, and artist.

“A kiss is like a guitar strum

T-shirt beating like a drum

Every rhythm riding the groove

World is spinning to the sound of that

Summer soundtrack”

Always a student and teacher of the genre, Campbell remains true to the style of the country music that he grew up on, related to, and created as a once-aspiring artist.  Years later, he has mastered the craft of delivering honest music with traditional roots but also intertwining modern elements, resulting in relatable and irresistibly catchy vibes and melodies.

“Summer Soundtrack” follows “What I Thank (When I Drank),” which was released in May.  As we anxiously await the release of ‘Exhibit B,’ Craig gives us all a quick glimpse of what we can expect, sharing that “The Lost Files has been a work in progress for the last 10 years and I’m so pumped for ya’ll to hear the rest of these songs!”

Campbell released this record’s predecessor, ‘The Lost Files: Exhibit A’ in February, consisting of 16 tracks that were recorded during the course of two label deals and others that he cut independently over the years.  Self-described as “unfiltered, unapologetic, and from my heart,” the collection was first represented by its first single, “Tractor Songs.”

Having first introduced himself to the mainstream country music world with hit singles including “Family Man,” “Outta My Head,” “Fish,” and “Keep Them Kisses Comin’,” Campbell created and launched his own label in search of his own musical freedom as well as to provide a platform for other artists who share the same passion.

Always one to stay busy, in addition to the upcoming release of his album, Craig has dates scattered across the country, including special appearances, headlining gigs, and acoustic performances, from now through the end of summer and into the fall.
