Warner Music Nashville’s Cody Johnson released ‘Human The Double Album’ in October 2021.  Since then, he has become one of the biggest stars in all of country music, and now, the platinum-recording artist has released a brand-new tune, much to the delight of fans, critics, and media alike.  “The Painter,” to be featured on an upcoming album due later this year, is available now digitally and all streaming platforms.

Johnson has earned the reputation as having the full arsenal as a country music artist, with accomplished songwriting, gifted singing, as well as an incredibly energy live show. The anticipation surrounding new music from the Grammy Award-winner was at an all-time high leading up to this new tune, written by Benjy Davis, Kat Higgins, and Ryan Larkins.

“The Painter” is a beautifully-crafted ode to Johnson’s relationship with his wife, Brandi.  He pays homage to her patience and love for him, while showcasing his admiration, appreciation, and love for her.  The poetic lyrics are ingeniously conveyed through every-day wordsmithing, while the musical accompaniment offers the sentimental vibe to perfectly enhance the emotional connection behind the song’s subject matter. 

During the course of his career, and due to his well-deserved reputation as an electrifying performer, it can be easy to depreciate his value as a singer.  But Johnson, amongst all of his talents which are aplenty, he is a gifted vocalist. His ability to control the power of his vocals and temper the aggression at some moments and unleash at others is masterful, further adding the emotion and passion behind the lyrics.

Cody has been married to his wife, Brandi, for 15 years, and he attributes the appreciation they have for one another and the effort they make to show that affection as the key to their happiness together.  And that is one of the key elements and motivations behind this song, to encourage others to appreciate those they have around them and live in the moment with those who matter the most to us.

“I hope my fans are encouraged to take the time to appreciate the people they have around them,” Cody shared.  “The ones who make their life beautiful and bring all the beautiful colors to their world when it could just be black and white and dark.  Remember them and tell them you love them.”

This is the first single release since his monster #1 single “Til You Can’t” as well as the top five hit “Human.”  To date, Johnson has tallied nearly five billion global streams while claiming title as CMT Artist of the Year, three CMT Music Awards, two CMA Awards, an iHeart Music Award, as well as a Grammy Award.  As he is set to release a brand new album later this year, he is undoubtedly one of the more celebrated and well-deserving artists in country music today.

Currently on tour in Australia, Cody will return to the United States to further embark on his headlining gig across the country.  His widely-acclaimed and highly-anticipated tour will include special guests Chris Janson and Drew Parker, stretching through the fall and into December.
