The dream and the reality of becoming a country music star typically vary drastically from one another.  While the ideal scenario is to move to Nashville, TN, be discovered immediately and release music that will forever change your career and your life, that’s simply not the way it happens.  The truth is, the music industry is a grind, taking that unique combination of unprecedented talent, work ethic and grit, and belief in yourself as well as in those around you.

For Austin Snell, in a little over a year as a Music City resident, the self-proclaimed “grunge country” singer-songwriter is taking the genre by storm, infusing his own unique style to the masses to the admiration and respect from fans, critics, media, and fellow artists.

His brand-new single, “Send You The Bill,” is a cleverly crafted break-up anthem for those of us who have experienced the trials and tribulations of a relationship’s ending.  Yes, this song is for EVERYONE.

Written by Snell along with Ben Foster and Sydney Cubit, the tune is an ode to how we cope with getting over a breakup, and seeking retribution and reimbursement, both literally and figuratively, for our pain and suffering.

“I had this title on my phone for awhile and it just spoke to me,” Austin shared.  “For all the times that you wish you could send the bill for their emotional damages!”

As a whole catalogue, Snell’s music hits hard, infused with hard-rocking elements.  However, “Send You The Bill” deviates from that general trademark a bit, as its subtle introduction and controlled aggression offers a somewhat sentimental and vulnerable side to the gritty country rocker.  The tune progresses and builds momentum as it transitions from the first verse to the chorus, then back to the second verse, and the musical arrangement as well as Austin’s vocals include that escalated intensity that add to the emotional impact of the song.

This is a sing-along anthem that will resonate with listeners long after the song’s conclusion.  The lyrics are uniquely delivered with short, quick lines, ear-pleasing and easily remembered for us all to become grunge country stars whether we’re at home in our rooms or in our cars with the windows down.

“Between the love I had and where I lost it

And what I got and what it’s costing

Going bar to bar, Jack to Jack

Scar to scar, tab to tab

And I can’t afford how I feel

So I’m sending you the bill”

“Send You The Bill” serves as the latest track off Austin’s highly-anticipated debut EP, ‘Muddy Water Rockstar,’ scheduled for a September 8th release via River House Artists / Warner Music Nashville.  To date, he has garnered over 80 million global career streams as his previously released tracks have gained underground momentum and now mainstream attention.  Songs like “Excuse The Mess,” “Get There First,” and “Pray All The Way Home,” as well as his killer cover of Cassadee Pope’s “Wasting All These Tears” have put him on the country music map amongst even the genre’s most casual fans.

Having been named as the first country artist to be a part of SiriusXM’s Artist Accelerator program as well as a Highway Find on SiriusXM’s The Highway, Snell is set to hit the road this fall on his first headlining tour.  With Lauren Watkins and Brian Fuller also on the bill on selected dates, the trek will hit the northeast and southeast hard from September through November.
