MATT JORDAN - Steal Away The Night - Independent Release

Since dropping his album, The Gamble, last fall, Heartland country rocker Matt Jordan has already begun to unveil several pieces of his next project through an ambitious 2023 release schedule that’s included highly praised songs “Anyone But Me,” “Always A Girl,” and “Steering Wheel.”

He now returns with a next look at his upcoming chapter with “Steal Away the Night.”

The song, a solo write for Jordan, continues to see him tapping into his 80’s rock influences to elevate a guitar and keyboard driven melody that instantly recalls the era of the MTV generation, albeit a fresh, modern take to it with a splice of modern country thrown into the mix.

Well Mary that’s my headlights in your window…can you come out to play?” Jordan quizzically asks in the opening lines of the song, setting in motion the playful, can’t get enough of seeing each other feeling of young love that you never want to end when you’re in the middle of falling.

Delving into the idea that it doesn’t matter what you’re doing so long as you’re doing it together (a moonlit drive in this case), Jordan perfectly grips that specific moment when you wish time could stop as he punches the chorus, flirtatiously painting the potential picture of their night ahead:

"That moon still got some sky to cross

Those stars got gas to burn

Don’t worry about that dashboard fog

We’ll make it worth our while

And drive to beat the hands of time

And steal away the night”

Continuing to lay out plans for their nighttime drive in the second verse, he encourages that they’ll go out to where they could find some extra room to run, while then leaving the choice 100% in her hands as to where it is that they should drive to; “Just point to anywhere West on that horizon, we’ll chase that setting sun.”

Grabbing hold of a feel-good moment of emotional overflow like we’ve all experienced in our lives, instantly gives “Steal Away the Night” a connectibilty factor with the listening audience. But as Jordan unravels more and more of his next chapter to us, his extremely gifted know how of using the edges of his raw, honest vocal to strike the right heartstrings in the middle of addictive melodies is stamping his signatures with a bold exclamation point as he moves miles ahead on his path with each new song!
