“Sunrise Tells The Story” is the latest release from throwback country hit-makers Midland, who have put out a new collection of tunes along with an extensive tour later in the year and into 2022.

A tale of forbidden love, the track is 100% true and pure Midland, relying heavily on harmonies and smooth grooves, putting the listener in the front row of the smoky honkytonk.

As is the case with the majority of their releases, “Sunrise” may not be for everyone, certainly not lending itself to the ears of the strict modern country music fan.  But when given an honest chance, the melodies and guitar runs infectiously inspire the listener to take themselves back to the times when country music was in its own confined space.

Delivered in modest undertones of remorse, the tune tells the story of a late night affair between two lovers, for better or worse:

“The moon saw it all through a thin piece of glass

And the stars must have blushed when you kissed me like that

We can’t hide the evidence

It’s scattered everywhere in all its naked glory

The night knows the truth

The sunrise tells the story”

“Sunrise” is the first song off Midland’s five song collection, ‘The Last Resort’, released in July.  The tour, appropriately named after the aforementioned EP release, takes them across the country from early October through the end of the year before embarking on a UK trek in the spring of 2022.
