RUNAWAY JUNE - To Be Yours - Quartz Hill Records
Building on the strong momentum achieved in the second half of 2024 with “New Kind Of Emotion” and “He Ain’t My Problem,” ACM-nominated trio Runaway Trio kicks off the new year with the release of their next radio single.
“To Be Yours” is available now on all digital and streaming platforms via Quartz Hill Records.
Coinciding with lead singer Stevie Woodward engagement, the song co-written by Stevie, Jennifer Wayne, Natalie Stovall, Aaron Eshuis and Ron Fair shares similar sentiment with the forementioned “New Kind Of Emotion,” but whereas that spotlighted the swooning feelings of a newfound love, this one rather carries contentment within the security of being in the right relationship with the right someone.
“We were wandering two long lost lovers, now that I've found I don't have to walk alone…” Woodward trails in the bridge, providing the cornerstone of the lyrics that play out like a heartfelt letter to her better half.
The softness of the melody drapes itself in delicate fiddle, craftily matching the heart fluttering blissfulness to the tenderness of Woodward’s voice as she map dots dream destinations they could visit throughout the opening verse; climbing Mount Everest, skydiving in Paris, sipping champagne in the Hamptons, sleeping in his arms under the Montana stars, etc.
However, by reiterating the end line of each stanza, “But I would be happy just to be yours,” an intriguing highlight is placed on the idea that it doesn’t matter what you do or where you go, but only who is sitting beside you in snapshot, memory making moments.
Repeating again in the chorus “I couldn't ask for anything more, I would be happy just to be yours,” sets the glide of the second half as Woodward draws focused definition around the kind of love she’s found, they type that has her thinking of wanting a picture-perfect family in the future but also being happy in love even if it ends up just the two of them in this dance of life together, side-by-side and hand-in-hand.
As is always a strong characteristic with Runaway June, their exquisite three-layered harmony is on full display here as each unique voice blends flawlessly into lyrical lifts that pop specific lines as if to point out their importance.
With the song already being available for download and likely gaining steam when it impacts radio as the springtime falls upon us, expect “To Be Yours” to become a strong, first-dance contender atop many wedding playlists.
