IRA DEAN FT. GRETCHEN WILSON - Everything - 8-Track Entertainment/Warner Music Group/ADA
As Ira Dean continues to build tremendous buzz for one of the springs most anticipated albums, I Got Roads (April 2025), he kicks off the new year by teaming with Grammy Award winning Gretchen Wilson to offer another look at the project with his fifth overall release from it, “Everything.”
Though it’s his rip-roaring “Tele-Man” collaboration with Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, John Osborne, and Brent Mason that’s securing a foothold on the current charts, the storytelling aspects of this song brushes pure honesty within a heartfelt grasp that more so resembles the feel of the previously released tracks, “Missin’ How It Used To Be” and “Wreck Me.”
Co-written by Dean and Dave Turnbull as a surprise for Ira’s wife Jennifer on their wedding day, the personal ode to everlasting love is a snapshot of what it means to truly love somebody for who they are, resonating impactfully through the speakers with the fluttered heartbeat of the listener who continually finds themself falling more and more for their better half with each passing day.
Accented in the soft sway of a traditional waltz that melodically mimics the movements of a tender first dance, there’s passion in Dean’s voice as he pulls it to the humble edges of raw authenticity while describing the unique attributes of her rescue mission on his life, defining her as being “a gold cross for this lost cause,” “the June to my Johnny,” and “the sane to my crazy.”
Smoothly gliding the praise filled chorus, Wilson’s delicate tones balance Dean’s grittier flare as he tries to navigate all that his wife means to him while only truly being able to find the one word that best describes her life-altering essence…everything!
“Girl, you’re everything I never knew I needed
Everything I wanted to believe in
Everything but the halo
Everything but the wings
Every prayer, every promise
And every song that I sing
Girl, you’re everything
Girl you’re everything”
Though “Everything” is a certainly a standout track amongst the five he’s reveled thus far in that allows his heartfelt side to shine within the sincerity of the ultra-personal lyric, more then just being another solid step on the buzzworthy road to the release of the album, the song also immediately becomes a contender to land at the top of wedding playlists as the season of bliss fast approaches.
