EMILY ANN ROBERTS - Scratching Out A Living - Starstruck Records
Fast-rising country music starlet Emily Ann Roberts is poised for a career-altering 2025, as the talented songstress recently kicked off her supporting run on Blake Shelton’s “Friends & Heroes” Tour while also releasing a new track to the masses. “Scratching Out A Living” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Starstruck Records.
The fun, highly-energetic new track bares resemblance to the Shania Twain hit “Honey I’m Home” from years past, and its subject matter is a direct reflection of Emily Ann’s upbringing, which drew inspiration for tune’s direction.
“My mom and dad used to always say they were scratching out a living when we were growing up. They worked so hard to provide for me and my sister and taught me that if you want something, you have to work for it,” Roberts said. “I’ve learned that lesson in a big way the past 10 years pursuing my dreams in country music. I know the hard-working folks will relate to it!”
A sassy, twangy, and modern countrified-sounding approach immediately grips the listener’s attention from the onset, as the fun, upbeat tune ebbs and flows its way through catchy, sing-along lyrics with a toe-tapping, head-bobbing accompanying beat.
“Boss keeps a screaming
The phone won’t stop a ringing
Working like a farm truck
But nothing’s ever good enough
Gotta get some me time
Don’t need another frown line
I’d Johnny Paycheck ‘em fast
But Lord knows I need the cash
Hands on clock are barely even ticking
Scratching out a living”
Emily’s vocals are beautiful and elegant, reminding us all of just how incredibly talented she is as a singer. Her range, control, and delivery put her on a level with very few in the genre, and her ability to convey a response from the listener is undeniable. On this track, however, Roberts explores her musical personality a bit more and unleashes her outrageously impressive vocal bravado, taking this one to the next level.
Known for her authentic voice and her ability to connect deeply with audiences, Roberts has been gaining attention as one of the most promising artists in the country music scene. "Scratching Out A Living" marks yet another milestone in Roberts' career as she continues to establish herself as a powerful force in modern country music.
Roberts gained national notoriety in 2015 when she placed as the runner-up on NBC’s “The Voice”. Since then, she has toured the country playing headlining gigs while opening for the likes of Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton, all the while continuing to hone her craft as a singer, songwriter, and performer. She has graced the stage at the historic and world-famous Grand Ole Opry over a dozen times, and her music has accumulated tens of millions of streams to date.
Emily Ann opened the first weekend of the tour with sold-out shows in Lexington, Ky. at Rupp Arena, her hometown of Knoxville, Tenn. at Thompson-Boling Arena, and at Food City Center in Greensboro, N.C. Fans were treated to a one-of-a-kind experience blending classic hits, new favorites and legendary collaborations.
