BLAKE SHELTON - Let Him In Anyway - BBR Music Group

Never one to shy away from the topic of faith since early in his career with songs like “In My Heaven” to his more current era with “Savior’s Shadow,” “Jesus Got A Tight Grip,” and “God’s Country,” Blake Shelton further showcases that deeper, heart impacted side of his arsenal on his powerful new release, “Let Him In Anyway.”

Following the top 10 success of his recent single “Texas,” the song written by Michael Hardy, Zach Abend, Kyle Clark, and Carson Wallace offers the stunning next look at his forthcoming album For Recreational Use Only (Due on May 9, 2025).

Styling the familiarity of his voice into the ebbs and flows of traditionally laced country storytelling that accents the soft glide of piano accompaniment, Shelton adds proper feeling to each trembled word as he travels the heart tugs of losing a best friend, tormenting whether his almost saved buddy can get past those pearly gates and still experience the eternal good life.

Lamenting in the opening verse, he tells of how he tried to convince his friend of God’s never-failing love, took him church, and saw him starting to listen and be convicted just before he was taken away from the life we know and moved to the other side.

In a prayer that loudly echoes from one saved soul straight to the savior’s heart, Shelton lifts the chorus like eyes turning upward to the sky as he humbly approaches the throne with a bold request on his friend’s behalf while seeking comfort for the pain and worry that’s radiating his own anxious heart.

“Hey, God
I know you know what I'm 'bout to pray, God
I just had to suck it up and say goodbye to my best friend
I don't ever wanna never see him again
And I know the only way to get in is through you
And he wasn't quite the Christian he was supposed to be
And Lord, it ain't my place
But could you let him in anyway?”

Asking for a true miracle, to move mountains as written in Matthew 17:20, Blake continues his plead to God, crying out how he can’t imagine himself walking through the pearly gates when his time comes and not seeing his friend there waiting for him.

We’ve all lost someone important to our lives, be that a parent, a relative, or in this case, a best friend. We know these emotions, have felt this internal struggle, and have fallen to our knees asking for a miracle. Shelton not only captures all these varied emotions with passionate precision, but he offers fact to the truth that God always hears the cry of his children.
