JILLIAN CARDARELLI - The Boys - Vydia
As country music starlet Jillian Cardarelli continues to stamp her place within the strong female class of today’s modern era, she’s also never been shy about incorporating her love of classic country into her overall vibe, giving her a unique branding that allows for her stellar voice, storyteller aura, and nods to the legends to anchor her defining characteristics.
In what is a perfect culmination of all these assets, Cardarelli today releases her latest single “The Boys.”
Co-written by Jessica Cayne, Kyle Kelso, and Tina Parol, Jillian says of her initial draw to the song:
"At my core, I'm kind of a homebody. My idea of a perfect evening at home is a glass of wine paired with some of my favorite country artists like Willie, Waylon and Hank (i.e., The Boys). When one of my best friends and collaborators, Tina Parol, played this song for me, I knew I had to record it!"
Wrapped around a modern infused 90’s country irresistibility, Cardarelli saddles the smoothness of her voice against an up-tempo melody that begs you to boot heel step the honky-tonk dance floor as she trails specific ways that one can relax, cope, or deal with life’s inevitable moments.
Using the opening verse to foretell what she herself doesn’t need, a night under the downtown neon, becomes the perfect setup for painting the picture of the night in that she craves, one where the needle drops on the vinyl as solid country gold radiates her outlaw soul.
“It’s Waylon and Willie and Haggard and Hank
Just hangin’ and dancing and having some drinks
Living room karaoke, yea they got me raising my voice
Your Cheatin’ Heart sure does me some good
Me and my outlaws are misunderstood
When the worlds getting loud -It’s the best kinda noise
Yea just me and the boys
Just me and the boys”
After relaying how leaning on those classic country songs is all she needs if she’s missing someone, she cleverly replaces the namechecks with the song titles that speak to her soul, adding a memory inducing connection factor for the classic country lover as she lists “Always On My Mind,” “Mama Tried,” “I Saw The Light,” and “Help Me Make It Through The Night.”
Where most artists today seem to be trying to find a way to take what is working for someone else and put their own spin on it, Jillian Cardarelli unashamedly stands strong in knowing exactly who she is and what she wants to do with her music; and quite honestly, we’re better off for it. The rising star continues to shine with “The Boys” as she expertly fills the much-craved gap between a traditional and modern sound while masterfully retaining attractiveness to fans on both sides of the line.
