KARISSA ELLA - Mama's Do - 117 Music
Building upon an already very strong resume that’s endeared her as one to watch, emerging country artist Karissa Ella continues today to open her dynamic next chapter with a heartfelt tribute that arrives just in time for Mother’s Day.
Following her recent singles “Heartbreaker” and “Last Call Cowboy,” “Mama’s Do” is available now on all streaming and digital platforms.
Co-written by Karissa, Drake Plantz, Kate Hastings, and Sarah Jones, the softly guided instrumentation matches the tenderness of the melody as Ella places the naturally angelic tones of her voice into to what is essentially a thank you letter to her mama for always being there for her.
“When we wrote this song, I was reflecting on those early love experiences and how my mom played such a huge, quiet role in all of it. She watched me fall hard, get my heart broken, do it all over again. No matter what, she was always there—picking up the pieces and letting me figure out love on my own. ‘Mamas Do’ is a conversation with the one person I’ve always been able to be completely honest with, and it’s my way of saying thank you for that kind of unconditional love. Because it’s true—when the world don’t stay steady, mamas do.” said Karissa.
Encompassing the swirled emotions battling inside of her, with one foot out already the door to go and meet up with the boy who broke her heart and see if he’s changed like he keeps saying he has, she gently pauses in the final moment before she leaves to try and calm her anxiousness by reaching out for the stability of her mama.
“Mama do you
Think he’ll break my heart again
Leave me wondering what could have been
Like back when we were young
Mama do you
Mind picking up the pieces if I don't hear your voice of reason
And I go and mess it up
Cause I run to you when I need the truth
When the world don't stay steady Mamas do”
Pitting her fear that meeting up with him could go south against the gratefulness in knowing that her mama will lovingly be there for her like she always is, “Mama’s Do” touchingly outlines the often-unexplainable bond between a mother and daughter, best friend to best friend.
Enhanced by a flare of traditional country storytelling and the emotional drawl of her incredibly gifted voice, Karissa Ella continues to shine the bright spotlight on the essence of her signature characteristics, deftly defining who she is as a songwriter and artist while intriguingly amping the buzz on her newest chapter.
