CODY JOHNSON - "I Want You" - Warner Music Nashville

Fresh off the announcement of his highly anticipated new album, country superstar Cody Johnson has released the lead single to his forthcoming project.  “I Want You” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via COJO Music / Warner Records Nashville.

Written by Tom Douglas, Tony Lane, and Matt Rogers, the song is a tender promise of love and devotion, while also serving as an introduction to a new, personal project focused on the Texas native’s roots and upbringing.

While some artists opt for an intense, up-tempo track to demand listeners’ attention towards the new project, Johnson chose a slow-burning, sweet and sincere ode to his wife, paying homage to the everlasting love he has for her, day in and day out.

The music is delicately delivered, providing the perfect backdrop for the down-to-earth, honestly-and-hopefully-love-stricken lyrics that are flawlessly delivered through Cody’s trademark vocal style.

“I want you in your blue jeans

And in your goin’ downtown dress

I want you when you’re perfect

Or in a perfect mess

I want you when you’re healin’

And when you’re broke in two

I want you”

Impacting radio nationwide, “I Want You” serves as the lead single off Johnson’s upcoming record, ‘Banks Of The Trinity’, which is slated for a June 26th release.

“When I heard the song ‘Banks Of The Trinity’ for the first time, it was like a portrait flashed in my head of memories I thought I’d forgotten.  It took me straight back home to Sebastopol, TX, where I grew up on the river”, Johnson said.  “This record is my way of going back to those dirt roads.  I can’t wait for you to come with me on that journey back.”

The release of his latest single will only build anticipation for his forthcoming record, as 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest of Johnson’s career.
