Anyone that’s experienced the Cash Creek Club Live! is very familiar with Jamey D. He emcee’s the live shows, but he’s also been recording music as part of the CCB Nashville record label.

He’s now ready to unleash some of that new material starting with “Workin’ My Way Back Home.”

The song, which he’s played a few times at the live shows, focuses on the emotions that come with being involved in a profession that keeps you on the road and away from your better half for an extended period, but more specifically on the excitement you begin to feel when you’re finally on your way home to them.

The driving rhythm fits snuggly between a rock kissed vibe and a country sound that allows Jamey to use just the right hints of gravel in his voice to capture the emotions perfectly, as the instrumentation strongly builds to the chorus and nearly mimics the excitement that is happening within the lyrics as home is drawing near.

What Jamey D has done so well, though, is to present the missing you feeling from both perspectives, signifying first that he clearly understands where she’s at with her emotions:

“I know your nights get cold when I’m not there with you

Your days get long and there ain’t nothing I can do

You’re growing weary I can feel you stretching thin.”

While he then uses the second verse to vulnerably express how being on the road away from her is hard on him:

“You know it’s hard on me out here all day long

When I hear the tears, you hold back talking on the phone.”

While the Cash Creek Club Live! always features amazing headlining performers, Jamey D has become one of my personal favorites to hear on the undercard. His songs are always raw, real, and he takes the storytelling aspect of classic country and wraps it around the right modern touches to draw you in as he elevates the lyrics to the forefront and his incredible vocals into the spotlight.

These signatures are exactly what he highlights on “Workin’ My Way Back Home,” which makes this a very strong way to help him quickly expand his reach in 2022 by attacking secondary radio with a must add song.
