NATE BARNES
"Right About Me"
Quartz Hill Records
Quartz Hill Records artist Nate Barnes introduced himself to the country music world with his charting single “You Ain’t Pretty”, and now he is back with a brand new tune, “Right About Me”.
Written by Barnes along with Jason Sellers and Jimmy Yeary, “Right About Me” is a tune about a guy who is considered by many, maybe even himself, as hard to love, but he has met the girl who has proven everyone wrong.
“I’ve got a hell raisin, haymakin’ reputation in this town
She won’t last, it’ll pass
Yeah that’s the rumor goin’ round
That boy won’t give those backroads up
She wouldn’t be caught dead in that truck”
“Right About Me” epitomizes the gossip and judgement that exists everywhere, and how, in some cases, opposites attract and love sometimes doesn’t make any sense.
Undoubtedly one of the highlights of his ‘You Ain’t Pretty’ debut EP, this song is a catchy number celebrating a relationship that may not make a lot of sense on paper, but love conquers all. This is a modern country track, but there are elements of a throwback tune from the early 2000’s with plenty of sing-along (and dance along) moments throughout.
The South Haven, MI native is a self-described country boy to his roots, as is described in his bio on his official website:
“Country music teaches you about life – about how to live, about how to be and about how to treat people. It made me feel things that I didn’t want to feel and that shifted by my whole deal. It changed how I lived, how I thought and my whole perspective on life”.
With plenty of stories to tell and a natural talent for songwriting and performing, we will hearing from Nate Barnes a lot in the future.
