XAVIER JOSEPH
"Worst Best Way"
Starmaker One Music Group
Emerging Texas country artist Xavier Joseph will release his debut album Built With Love later this year, but he has recently given us a sneak peak of what we can expect through “Worst Best Way.”
Although the song is steeped rich in Texas tradition, “Worst Best Way” absolutely leans towards a national Top 40 country feel, which might have a little something to do with the fact that Joseph recorded in Nashville.
Lyrically, this perfectly captures that “I’m crazy in love with you” emotion that comes at the beginnings of falling deeper for someone when you’re in the stage where you can’t get enough of being with each other.
You’re directly brought into the middle of the situation when he sings of already calling it a night and laying down to go to sleep when his phone lights up and it’s her calling.
As Joseph weaves you through the lyrics, your own similar story starts to play out in your head as he sings of jumping out of bed, racing down the stairs, and rushing to her house to get her lips on his, because as the hook of the song says, “I want you in the worst best way.”
The second verse continues unravelling the story - though he’s now clearly over at her house - as Joseph sings “Won’t be long til we cross that line,” alluding to the fact that they know they are going to go too far, but they can’t fight their emotions when they are together.
Grabbing our ear upon first listen is the great comparison lyrics that Joseph uses throughout the chorus of how much he wants her in the “worst best way” - “Like a drop in the ocean turning into a tidal wave,” “Like a gust of wind that’s looking for a hurricane,” Etc…
Xavier Joseph has certainly done the trick in our peaking our interest with the release of this song, and we are buzzing with anticipation to see what his album is going to hold when it releases this fall.
