Is there any artist in country music that’s as hot as Morgan Wallen is right now?

Every show on his “Dangerous” tour is selling out minutes after tickets go on sale, rave reviews are piling in on all his new music, and he’s currently experiencing another multi-week #1 with “Wasted On You,” which this week sits in that position for the third straight week in a row. 

Though it was initially released to fans a few months ago, “You Proof” has now officially been announced as Wallen’s next single.

The tune, co-written by Wallen with Ashley Gorley, Ernest, and Ryan Voitesak, sits squarely in the wheelhouse of what Morgan Wallen does best as its mid-tempo groove leans into mostly acoustic instrumentation in its beginnings to get you swaying as you snap along in rhythm while his unmistakable raspy vocal sings us through the trying to drink his ex off his mind lyric.

Wallen takes us straight into the bar with him where he’s been throwing back whiskey, shooting doubles, and mixing liquors to try and get her gone from his memory, only to find that the normal antidotes aren’t working like they should as she seems to be sticking around and rattling through his brain no matter how far down the rabbit hole he allows the alcohol to take him.

Lamenting in the chorus that he needs something stronger to get rid of her that doesn’t come in a top-shelf bottle, but rather in something that no bartender is slinging…“I need something you proof!” confessing that the only thing that will truly get him over her is if she comes back to him and the love they once knew. 

The modern country groove blends together with hip-hop elements in the chorus to give this song the typical Morgan Wallen feel, but that’s certainly not a bad thing as his sound is clearly working right now so why fix what isn’t broken.

“You Proof” inched up a few spots to the #41 position on the charts this week, now sitting just outside the Top 40 ahead of its official radio impact date. That said, with this type of early traction you can expect the song to race right up the charts to become Wallen’s next #1!
