With the renowned success of her last single “Halos and Horns,” Allie Colleen pushed her name into the buzzworthy category, elevating her status and landing lauded after gigs that continued putting her music in front of new people night in and night out, effectively building her fan base and solidifying her place as an artist to watch.

She now returns with her nostalgic kissed single “Feels Like.’

The song, penned by Allie Colleen and Kimberly Atwood and co-produced by Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann and Cody LaBelle, sits on a mid-tempo feel that really allows Allie’s voice to come into her own as she uses its pure, unbridled power to carry the emotionally charged chorus, while perfectly accenting it by softly handling the nostalgic, looking back verses.

Comparing the feelings of being head over heels in love with your romantic partner to similar comfort levels you felt as a child through the unconditional love of your parents, Allie sings us through the verses by hitting on specific, feel-good, childhood memories that completely invoke our own: the feel of fresh sheets out of the dryer, like eating breakfast at midnight, faking that you’re asleep in the car so your daddy carries you inside, finding loose change in dad’s pocket to throw in the bucket, etc.

However, where Allie truly shines is in her remarkable ability to utilize the natural vibey feel of her voice to intriguingly carry you through the heartfelt chorus that compares all those memorable childhood feelings to how she’s feeling with being in love right now:

That’s what it feels like every time you slip your hand in mine

Waking up to that first sunrise, knowing I could hold you for the rest of our lives

It ain’t ever getting old, just getting better with time

That’s what loving you feels like.”

We see a transparency in the bridge where Allie confesses that knowing how much she needs him is scaring her half to death, and with that one line she expertly takes the feel-good vibes that are already hitting home with the listener and connects them to a very real, deeper feeling that we all experience when our walls start to break down after meeting someone who changes our whole world.

Those strong connection factors between song and listener allows “Feels Like” to make an immediate impact, while it most importantly also allows Allie Colleen to continue defining all the unique signatures that make her one of country music hottest, most endearing young acts!
