Country music superstar Blake Shelton is back with a brand-new single – “No Body”.  In a self-proclaimed attempt at a 90’s throwback tune, Shelton appears to be following the recent trend of song releases that are attempting to pay homage to what many believe to be the best decade of country music.

And while we have seen newer artists release these throwback tunes, Shelton, whose career began at the tail-end of that generation, is taking a trip down memory lane with this latest single.

The plotline of this tune is pretty simple, much like the popular releases from the 90’s – it tells the story of someone who doesn’t want to be with anyone except the person he is with in this moment.  Written by Rodney Clawson, Chris Tompkins, and Josh Kear, it infuses an infectiously corny simple sing-along melody with lyrics that are embarrassingly fun to sing.

Don’t wanna scoot the boots with nobody

Get straight tequila drunk on nobody

Wrap these arms around nobody

No body, but yours

As usual, Shelton’s vocals are on point.  At this stage of his career, the country hitmaker can pick and choose what he records and when he records it, and the songs being added to his catalogue are right in his wheelhouse.  As has always been his trademark, Blake is able to incorporate his personality and sense of humor into every vocal performance, and “No Body” is no different.

One of the biggest stars in all of country music, Shelton is celebrating his 12th year as a Grand Ole Opry member.  He will return to the Opry stage in Nashville on Saturday, September 10th.  To date, Blake has tallied a total of 28 No. 1 singles and has sold out arena and stadium tours across the country for years.  Fans only have a select few opportunities to see Shelton from now through the end of the year.
