Nineteen-year-old American Idol alum Alex Miller has released the first single of upcoming sophomore album, “When God Made The South”, available everywhere now.

Celebrating and paying homage to the joys of life in the south, the guitar-driven anthem is a gritty, raw, and noticeable departure from the traditional musical elements of what fans have heard from the Kentucky native via his first album.  Lyrically, the tune touches on memories of growing up in the south told through his distinctive drawl, while musically, it incorporates the southern-rock elements that are often associated with modern fans of the genre.

Self-proclaimed, and also categorized (by others) as a country music traditionalist on AI, Miller made a conscious decision to deviate from the norm of what people have expected from him early in his young career.  This is an edgy, rock-driven tune that will find its way into the heads and playlists of fans of all sub-disciplines of the country music genre.

His debut album, ‘Miller Time’, spawned three singles that put him on the map of promising up-and-coming singer/songwriters.  Featuring “I’m Over You, So Get Over Me,”, “Don’t Let The Barn Door Hit Ya” and “Through With You”, the project served as a first (and successful) step in enabling music fans to see him transition from his role and appearance on the hit singing competition to a young singer/songwriter with a promising, long-standing career.  The latter single hit the Top 35 of the Billboard Indicator Chart and reaching No. 2 on The Country Network.

Released via Billy Jam Records, “When God Made The South” is the first glimpse into Alex’s new project, and with the high quality result coupled with the departure of the sound and style present on his first album, anticipation amongst fans, artists, and colleagues will only intensify in the weeks and months ahead.
