Country music megastar Luke Combs is on an unprecedented winning streak.  The Columbia Nashville recording artist has released 14 singles to country radio to date…and all 14 of those singles have hit the No. 1 spot.  He looks to continue that incredible streak with the release of his newest offering, “Going, Going, Gone”.

The tune is his third release off his latest album, ‘Growin’ Up’, and follows the chart-topper “The Kind Of Love We Make”.  The song continues the trend of incorporating elements of his existing catalogue that his fans love while offering fragments of a fresh new sound.

This is not Combs’ first ballad and it’s certainly not his first breakup track.  However, this song does represent a transition to a more mature approach to a relationship’s end, showcasing a coming-of-age musical moment in time for a singer-songwriter who has achieved nearly every feat one could expect from someone in the country music world who released his debut record just five years ago.

Some things in life are meant to fly

And others, they were born to run

You can’t tie them up and leavin’

Like the changing of the seasons

Good things, they come and then they go

“Going, Going, Gone” is a subtly stark contrast from previous bitter heartbreak rockers like “When It Rains It Pours”.  This is not a track of “good riddance” moments; it is more a sorrowing acknowledgement of the relationship’s end and coming to terms with the resulting thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

In 2017, Luke Combs was one of the most exciting and promising young new artists in country music.  Now, just a handful of years later, he is one of the biggest stars, not just in country music, but all across all genres.  He has been routinely playing sold out shows in front of tens of thousands of people, leading to an announcement of unprecedented proportions.

While his 2022 isn’t winding down without a busy finish on the road, Combs’ 2023 calendar promises to be perhaps even busier.  Earlier this fall, he announced his first stadium tour, playing at some of the largest venues across the country and the world beginning in the spring.
