Multi-platinum country music artist Chase Rice is doing something that very few, if any, singer-songwriters have been able to do.  He has shifted his musical approach against the grain of today’s country sound, reinventing himself as a songwriter and performer.  He has changed the narrative of who is he as a musician, earning the respect of fellow artists, critics, and industry executives, while garnering new fans along the way.

The latest example is “Way Down Yonder”, now available everywhere via BBR Music Group.  Rice co-penned the tune along with Hunter Phelps, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass, and Corey Crowder, furthering his recent rugged approach to sophisticated songwriting.

This is a self-proclaimed “musical western” that developed organically during the songwriting process.  It tells the tale of hard-working people who fall just short of obeying the laws.  It’s another offering from his new approach to songwriting and music-making, with his latest project being recorded over a two-week period using an unpresented environment to capture a pure, raw sound.

Make your love where the bees make money

When the cut’s where you’re born and raised

Man it’s in your blood we were born this way down yonder

This song has the feel of an acoustic southern rock number alongside catchy lyrics and that wild-west vivid imagery.  Fans will love it, and rightfully so.

Rice has taken his fans through quite the music journey, venturing through all of the confines and extremes of the ever-evolving genre.  From the pop-enthused “Ready Set Roll” to “Eyes On You” and “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen”, Chase has one of the more diverse musical catalogues of the last decade, and as he continues to evolve as a songwriter and performer, his fans, new and old, are following and supporting him.

“Way Down Yonder” follows “Key West & Colorado”, and Rice’s first release since 2021’s “If I Were Rock & Roll”.  He has been on the road relentlessly this summer and continues into the fall, with dates slated through the end of the November.
