Every year, countless singer-songwriters make the trip to Nashville, TN with dreams of becoming a star.  And whether they stay for a weekend, a month, or forever, the objective is the same – to “make it” in country music.

For most of us, when we hear the phrase “make it” with regards to music, we think of a record deal, sold out concert, making enough money that you can quit your day job, etc.  But for others, including RCA Records Nashville breakthrough artist Corey Kent, a dose of reality is all he needed to realize he has already achieved his dreams.

His new single, “How You Know You Made It”, is a reflection of the past, gratitude for the present, and excitement for the future.  It serves as a reminder to appreciate the most important things in your life, instead of longing for what you don’t have and what you think you need and want most.

I got a house that’s home.

I got a can that’s cold.

I got a hand to hold.

We already made it.”

Corey co-wrote the tune along with AJ Prunis and Smith Ahnquist, and can be interpreted as an autobiographical account of Kent’s experience grinding his way through the underground country music scene, eventually landing a record deal.  And now, while he is not in Music City but rather living closer to his family in Texas, he has been working hard on his craft while being there with and for those who matter the most to him – his wife and his daughter.

“How You Know You Made It” is a reality check for all of us, and a song that will inspire and emotionally connect with its listeners immediately.  The song, while lyrically impactful and thought-provoking, is pushed to another level via Kent’s gritty and heart-on-his-sleeve delivery.  It’s a track that we will love and continue to learn to expect from this already-accomplished and quickly-ascending singer-songwriter.

Following a slew of co-headlining sold out dates with Bailey Zimmerman, Corey is on the road this fall with gigs intertwining with festival appearances.  His single, “Wild As Her”, is widely renowned as one of the breakout songs of the year, tallying over 136 million on-demand streams while hitting Top 40 at Country Radio.
