As we enter the final two months of 2022, CCB Nashville continues to deliver a power punch of great, new music from each of their talented artist roster as part of their #newmusicfriday initiative.

Par for the course all year long, the first week of each month belongs to a new release from fiddle playing virtuoso, Megan Mullins Owen, who for her part has also used this entire year as a bold display of who she is as an all-around artist and songwriter, unveiling layer after exciting layer with each release.

She’s tilted toward a modern mainstream sound with “Trampoline” and “Never Been Good at Letting Go,” leaned into softer paced, heart-tugging lyrics on “He Breaks Things,” and encouraged through depth-filled, poignant songs such as “Unbridled” and “Good for a Girl.”

But as the swampy guitar strikes push into the toe-tapping, boot scootin’  rhythm and two-steppin’ fiddle laced melody, “Mine All Mine” delivers a pure barnburner with feisty lyrics that sees her standing toe to toe with a girl who’s looking at - and flirting with - the same guy at the bar as she is.

Taking us straight into the Friday night honky-tonk as fisticuffs is a-brewing, Megan immediately issues a warning to the other girl when she spews out in the first verse that she might as well finish up her drink, grab her purse, and head on out of there because “right about closing time, he’s gonna be mine all mine.”

Further challenging the other girl as confidence continues to arise within her, Megan boldly shares that she grew up with two brothers and ain’t afraid to rough it up with her if that’s what it’s gonna take!

With the second verse, after reiterating again that he’s gonna be “mine all mine” in the chorus, she perfectly paints the picture of what the rest of the night is going to look like as she sings of dragging him out to the dancefloor, kissing him right on his lips, and sending shivers up and down his spine.

Megan has a knack for bending her vocals in all the right ways to deliver the proper feel of each line she sings. “Mine All Mine” continues to see that trend from her as she adds a naturally spiteful tone that perfectly enhances the budding potential for a throwdown that’s clearly just about to happen.

With its instrumental outro, Mullins Owens drips in a perfect blend of traditional country flare with pedal steel, piano laced plucking, and an irresistible fiddle saw, allowing the song to push together her classic country influences while masterfully still staying fresh and modern enough to walk the line right down the middle.

It’s been exciting to watch the progression of Megan Mullins Owen all throughout the year, but whenever she allows herself the opportunity to have her fiddle playing shine, we see her standing in the spotlight of her signature style and declaring who she uniquely is while making the listener take instant notice!
