Hayden Coffman has built a very solid fanbase on the back of well-received songs such as “Better Off,” “Good ‘Ol Boys,” “Good As It Gets,” and more! By connecting his modern brand of country music with down-home blue-collar types, he quickly became a fan favorite and gave them an independent act to cheer for as he continually climbs the rank.

This summer saw him release the vibey, float on the breeze “Drink One Anyway,” and his most recent release saw him team with the ultra-popular Trey Lewis on “Give A Country Boy A Call,” resulting in the pair teaming up for a run of highly successful tour dates.

Coffman now returns with his brand-new single, “Where’s The Whiskey.”

Keeping with the familiar, modern branded style that has become his signature, the moody mid-tempo drive of the song perfectly encapsulates the lyrics as Coffman sets the heartbroken tone in the first verse as he admits “I never thought I’d hurt like this,” while outlining the night of the specific disagreement that would be the final straw that led to it all crashing down when he sings, “We were drinking drinks, saying things that we didn’t mean, didn’t believe.”

Like so many who are looking back on a love gone wrong, the chorus then sees Coffman leaning on the vice of alcohol to try and help him forget - even if only momentarily - as confesses that every night has become more of the same buzzing and cussing for him as he’s started to realize through her leaving that she’s all he ever needed.

But it’s the second verse that intriguingly opens the questions about why they actually had come to an end. Though he never fully gives a reason, there’s indication that perhaps her heart moved on long before she did from the relationship, pointing to the fact that maybe another guy was in the picture behind Coffman’s back while they were still together.

“Wish I didn’t have to find out

Scrolling through my phone on my couch

Seeing that picture of you and that other guy

That doesn’t know you and I were loving on each other last week

I guess that’s another secret you keep”

This thought process adds a very interesting depth to the song that explains that it could be more than just another typical heartbreak, but rather a true gut punch of hurt that won’t go away anytime soon – giving reason to be reaching for that bottle of whiskey!
