Following the release of the highly successful single “Country On”, megastar Luke Bryan is back with his latest single, “Prayin’ In A Deer Stand’, available everywhere via Capitol Records.

Co-written by Bryan along with Nicolle Galyon and Jimmy Robbins, the tune is a self-proclaimed deeply personal song to the five-time Entertainer of the Year.

This is a good song; it’s not the “catchiest” and it’s not the easiest to sing-along-with or dance to in his musical catalogue.  What this song is, though, is a representation of the continued transition and migration of a superstar’s approach to music.  Luke is still at the height of his popularity and success in the industry, which makes it even more impressive that he is still adapting and pivoting his focus on the music, lyrics, and message from song to song, from album to album, during his reign as one of the biggest stars in not only country music, but across all genres.

Songs like “All My Friends Say” and “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”, while released seemingly ages ago, almost seem to be from another artist at this point.  Both songs, and others like it that he has put out over the years, were wildly popular and garnered him unprecedented success, but his maturity as a person, songwriter, and musician has become unequivocally notable from song to song and album to album.

“Some find it on a pier where they used to fish with their old man

Some feel it when the choir sings and that light hits that stained glass

We’re all down here searching for an answer or a sign

The way those clouds are moving in, I think He’s hearing me just fine”

These are poetic lyrics; incredibly and carefully constructed and Luke’s ability to convey the mood and vibe through his delivery are truly remarkable from an artist who can also lead the party on a beach or at a stadium.  His continued evolution during all of his monumental success is truly something to be admired by fans, fellow artists, and critics alike.
