Australia’s country music scene has always been one that has thrived in big ways. While we in the states know the names of Aussie imports such as Keith Urban and Jamie O’ Neal, the scene in “The Land Down Under” has created a heaping helping of their own homegrown stars: The McClymonts, Adam Brand, and Catherine Britt to name a few.

Pop country artist Abbie Ferris has been making strides for the past few years with substantial video airplay on CMT Australia, her music being added to several of today’s hottest playlists, and several high -profile gigs being notched on her resume.

2022 has not only seen her experiencing a push, but it has also showed us her tremendous growth spurt as a songwriter and artist, becoming undeniably evident with the release of her last single “3AM Girl,” an emotionally vulnerable look inside a toxic relationship.

As Australia’s winter turns to summer – the opposite of what we experience stateside – Ferris offers her steamier side on the new single “Hot Summer Nights.”

Written with hitmaker Phil Barton, Ferris wraps her vocal into the insatiable summer driven, mid-tempo melody as she turns a summer fling into a lusty something more.

Admitting through each of the verses that she didn’t see feelings coming, that they are going past too far gone, and that she’s now hanging on to whatever’s going to happen next as the temperature – literally and figuratively between them - continues to rise.

In a way that is cleverly nostalgic, though told from the perspective of the here and now, Ferris takes us through a chorus that gets the listener reminiscing on their own youthful summer flings as she sings lines such as “Skipping curfew time, dancing wild in the full moonlight,” while delivering an irresistible, sing a long moment into the hook of the song.

By displaying a pure know-how within her vocals, Ferris continues to impress as she lifts her voice into higher registers at all the right moments to enhance the punch of specific words, while confidently showing off an incredible range.

Summer songs are prevalent in country music, but that doesn’t mean they ever feel tired or worn. They always give the listener an addictive, feel-good vibe while also allowing the writer and artist to tap into the carefree side of whatever they’re focusing their lyrics on – in this case…a summer fling turned falling in love!
