Kelsea Ballerini has formally released her latest track off her Subject To Change album to country radio.  “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too” is impacting radio airwaves across the nation now, following the incredibly popular run of its predecessor, “Heartfirst”.

Released via Black River Entertainment originally as 1 of 5 teaser tracks ahead of the album back in September, the song was written by Ballerini along with Julian Bunetta and Shane Mcanally.

The tune represents another venture into somewhat unchartered waters for Kelsea, who continues to musically explore the confines and boundaries of the country and pop worlds.  Immediately apparent is the influence of bluegrass elements along with the guitar, fiddle, and dobro intro to put the song in its own category from the rest of her musical catalogue to this point.

The subject matter draws on true friendship, with loyalty and trust at the forefront, offering a “best friends forever”, “through thick and thin” type president to which we can all yearn for or relate.

The lyrics are clever and the chorus is catchy, with Kelsea’s trademark delivery putting the song over the top for all, including huge fans of the singer or a common country listener.

“’Cause dirt on you is dirt on me

And we both know our hands ain’t clean

If it all blows up and we end up on the news

If you go down, I’m goin’ down too”

In addition to the already-incredible reception to Subject To Change, Ballerini is also enjoying the overwhelming positive response to the news that she will be hitting the road with Kenny Chesney in the spring of 2023 for a run across the country, beginning on March 23 in Charlottesville, VA.  With a sure-to-be award-winning album under her belt and a stint on the road in the early part of the year, 2023 promises to put Kelsea on another level in country music and beyond.
