As CCB Nashville winds toward the end of their uber ambitious, year-long #newmusicfriday initiative, which has seen them impressively releasing new music from their talented roster week in and week out, the label’s flagship act Cash Creek gives us their final song of the year with “Why Not?”

The country music supergroup has given us a few different flashes of their 90’s branded style over the past 11 months, but most of their releases have kept lyrical focus on love, whether it was a stunning cover of Maggie Rose’s “It’s You,” the reassuring “My Heart’s Goin’ Nowhere,” or upbeat, feel-good’s such as “Big Loud Love Song” and “I Love My Life.”

This song swerves away from what we’ve come to know thematically from the guys as they end the year with an ultra-positive, tempo drive song that sees Kimo Forrest securing the leads on a lyric that challenges the listener to get out of their own way and live life to their fullest potential.

Through a series of questions, Forrest makes you look at - and think about – everything in life from a fresh perspective, observing first that:

“A dream’s a wish, that’s all it is, til you relentlessly decide to reel it in”

“When you let fear team up with doubt, regret will plant its roots in solid ground”

Before then presenting several think about’s such as:

“Why ask why, I’d rather ask why not?”

“Why just walk when you were born to run?”

“Why not come out of your shell?”

We all need tough love based encouraging words, which Cash Creek expertly brings into the fold when they stand toe to toe with you and motivate you to not stay trapped in your comfort zones, remind you that when time runs out you don’t get it back, and boldly tell you that right now is the best time to start doing exactly what you were put here to do.

*Special note from the TCM staff to Cash Creek’s Monty Devita: GET WELL SOON MONTY!
