Breaking onto the scene with their ultra-catchy debut single “Bits & Pieces” immediately placed sibling duo Walker County - comprised of Ivy Dene and Sophie Dawn - on the country music radar as they showcased their incredible individuality while also placing a strong emphasis on their crisp, signature harmonies.

Since then, they’ve really strived to reposition themselves by boldly showing who they are through their more depth-filled song releases such as “Liar” and “You & Jesus,” their recently released collaboration alongside Greylan James.

The duo now returns with that might be their most important song to date, “Mirror Mirror.”

Sticking with faith-based ideals, the song also perfectly pulls from the very topical debate of self-esteem issues that plague a lot of people today – especially female teenagers – as they speak directly to them, very compassionately relaying the incredible, Bible based message that you are flawlessly made just as you are.

First coming at the lyric from the perspective of someone looking at themselves in the mirror, the duo sings through the opening verse of all the negative ways that one often treats themselves during this internal struggle, picking out all the flaws, being mean to herself when she’s not wearing any makeup, etc.

Delivering the hard truth in the second verse that “a little lipstick won’t fix what’s broken inside” and that it’s up to you to change your way of thinking, the chorus stands tall as it issues a bold challenge that asks you to see past the lies the enemy has sold to you and to see yourself through the eyes of our Creator:

“Look her in the eyes and tell her she’s pretty

Give her a smile and let her know there ain’t a thing she’s gotta change

Instead of breaking her heart give her a break today

Mirror mirror I know you got a lot to say

You’ve seen every single tear

But help her see the truth more clear

Mirror Mirror”

Blending their highly praised signature harmonies into a song with such a strong message certainly elevates Walker County’s status, but with a song like this, the overall point of its release runs way deeper than that.

This is the type of song that reaches through the speakers and grabs the hearts of those who need a shining reminder to stop being so hard on yourself and to embrace who you are while settling down any of the noise that surrounds you so that you can hear the only voice that matters whispering and reminding that you’re perfectly made in His image.
