There are several different paths for a singer-songwriter to take whenever they aspire to reach a higher plateau, but it all always starts with making the big decision to move to Nashville and immerse yourself within its rich music scene and tapestry.

Thayer, MO native Halie has been cutting her teeth in Music City for the past 4 years and has impressively propelled her status in just that short time, carving out her niche amongst a crowded scene with a winning appearance on NBC’s Songland that landed her a cut with country superstar Martina McBride (“Girls Like Me”).

She now hits us with her brand-new single “Heart Of A Man.”

Though the song carries a softer tilt, Halie skillfully embeds it with an irresistible melody to cleverly attract the listener so that each word strikes the right heart chord as she wraps her emotionally charged voice into the “having trouble moving on” lyric.

Pitting her struggles with moving forward versus the fact of how quickly he did, she does what so many of us do when we’re searching for heartbroken answers by anxiously getting inside her own head as she shares her multiple failed efforts of the coping mechanisms that she’s already exhausted:

“Tried putting myself in his shoes”

“Tried drinking whiskey just like he do”

“Tried moving on fast but God forbid that it works the way”

An aspect that truly elevates the song is the pure honesty that she has with herself when she’s facing the mirror despite some of her outward actions, such as when she sings of telling her friends that she’s doing just fine and then flipping the script to admit that she stays up at night wondering how he can even sleep.

Another ultra-impressive moment comes when she slides into the final chorus of the song sans instruments, which allows her vocal to transparently carry the frustrated, hurtful emotions into a cry like quiver as she sings:

“How do you do it

Break my heart in two like there’s nothin’ to it

Like I was everything to you until I wasn’t

Said you wouldn’t then you done it

Did it all go to your plan or did it fall apart somewhere

If I could know then maybe I could understand

What’s in the heart of a man”

By already having a solid foundation of a following, coupled together with what so many who are struggling need to hear, Halie has set herself up to reach next level success with “Heart Of A Man,” wrapping the song around the broken hearted like a warm hug to let them know they aren’t in this fight alone.
