RESTLESS ROAD
"On My Way"
RCA Records Nashville
Over the past year and a half, Restless Road has really solidified their stylistic blend of pop and country while elevating their signature harmonies, catchy melodies, irresistible rhythms, and individuality within their voices through strong song releases, “Sundown Somewhere,” “Headlights,” and “Bar Friends.”
However, it was when they slowed the pace with “Growing Old With You” that they hit the mainstream realm, earning chart success, getting played in heavy rotation at country radio, and achieving a wedding song of the year tag for their incredibly well-done “first dance” version of the hit song.
Riding that momentum wave into 2023, Restless Road kicks off the year with their brand-new release, “On My Way.”
The song has already swirled a massive amount of buzz through well-timed teases on social media and it making its way onto their setlists, as well as being played during an acclaimed performance this past summer on the Grand Ole Opry.
Knowing what they do so well, they focus their voices (both in harmony and individually) on elevating the song in all the purest ways so that the amazingly powerful lyrics remain the focal point and capture the listener’s heart with their much-needed, hopeful message.
The slower pace of the song perfectly surrounds the vocals as we see them metaphorically looking in the mirror to face flaws, singing lines in the verses:
“Sometimes I’m late, sometimes I cuss.”
“I’ve broken some hearts and I’ve let people down.”
“I wish I could keep every promise I make.”
Beneath those tough love assessments, though, sits the encouraging idea of celebrating the right here, right now by not only realizing what needs to be changed, but by also understanding how far he’s already come while still reaching to where he wants to be, singing in harmony through the chorus:
“I’m on my way, wherever I go
I’ll keep on walking this slow winding road
I ain’t afraid to love or to change
And be someone better than I was yesterday
I ain’t there yet, but I’m on my way”
A love yourself through the trials and tribulations type of song is so important right now as so many people are allowing negatives to dictate their well-being. As such, there’s no doubt that this song will resonate and strike the right chord at country radio for Restless Road.
But a song of this nature is so much more important than just becoming a success rung on the ladder up; this is the type that can reach through the speakers and change hearts while impacting lives to the point of healing! That’s the truest definition of a great song!
