When it comes to naming the artists who really broke through in 2022, RECORDS Nashville recording artist Erin Kinsey must be a name in every one of those discussions. She released her debut EP 40 West to high acclaim, debuted on the Grand Ole Opry stage, and watched her single “Just Drive” reach incredible success at country radio and at CMT with its accompanying music video.

But as monumental as all those achievements were for Kinsey, she also continued to excitedly give us glimpses into what’s still to come with two new song releases in the latter part of the year; “Vegas” which showed off her vibey, fun-loving side, and “Reason For Leaving” which saw her softening the tone into a heartstring tugging lyric that took us right into the moments that the relationship broke apart.

She is now kicking off her 2023 with the release of her newest single, “Boys In Boots.”

Perfecting her signature modern pop country vibe, Kinsey delivers a fresh, summery feeling mid-tempo that perfectly accompanies her sugary vocals as she sings through the first part of the song of the type of guys that a lot of other girls are into; the city types that never heard George Strait or Keith Whitley, the Californian’s that come equipped with their West coast weather, etc.

As you could probably predict from the songs title, though she admits that she isn’t throwing shade at those types of guys or the girls that like them, she openly states that she herself would rather have a boy in boots that takes her on drives down the winding backroads, one who lives in a small-town rather than the city, and one who when he calls her baby it’s with a “raised up round here accent.”

With pure happiness in her vocal tone, Kinsey then runs through a list of all the reasons why she prefers a boy in boots, opening her diary to the listener in the second verse when she sings:

“I like the way they sound when he’s walking up the steps of my front porch

I like the way he leaves them sitting by the screen door

That’s how I know that he’s home, and he’s all mine”

By releasing this song now, it’s poised to make its strongest run at radio come spring. Whether that’s by design or not, that timing places this just ahead of the onslaught of summer songs which will give Kinsey a big-time edge.

Combine this absolutely perfect timing with a song that is immediately catchy to the listener while it also elevates the unique characteristics of one of country music’s most talked about emerging stars, and Erin Kinsey could be looking at her biggest breakthrough yet with “Boys In Boots.”
