2022 was a year of big accomplishments for Latin-infused country sensation Andrea Vasquez. She released highly praised singles “Made Me Cry,” “Reverse,” and “Never Into Me,” made her debut with the uber popular Song Suffragettes writer round, and was awarded Top 3 Best Country Music Artist and Best Nashville Singer-Songwriter in the ‘Best of Nashville Awards.’

As the sole songwriter on her first release in 2023, “Overthink,” Vasquez gives us a song that is as vulnerable as it is therapeutic as she looks into her own mirror to face the realities of high anxiety.

The soft yet mid-tempo driving rhythm embedded into the melody wraps around the listener from the get-go with an embrace that lets them know that they aren’t in this fight alone as Vasquez transparently shares her heart and unpacks her mind’s flurry of thoughts and emotions.

Admitting in the opening lines that she overthinks just about everything and listens to the negative voices in her head, she then pushes into the chorus revealing that this specific overthinking situation stems from the great relationship that’s aligned itself with her, confessing that sometimes she thinks it’s too good to be true.

Proving that anxiety knows no boundaries, the second half of the song sees her shifting focus to her music career as she opens her diary to nervously tell that while she wants to world to hear her songs, she doesn’t even know if (o how) she’ll fit in since her last name is different.

But as personal as this song is to Vasquez, what she does so well is how she skillfully crafts her own story in such a way that it’s super relatable to anyone who shares a similar struggle, blasting a few lines of encouragement in the chorus when she sings, “I remind myself to breathe and start doing things for me,” and “the in-between is the lesson learned.”

With her having already hooked the listener, the honesty and poetic phrasing of the lines in the bridge - “It looks like everybody’s got it figured out, I guess I’m lost trying to be found” - become the catalyst to really making impact with the anxiety riddled listener in ways that could make them exchange their destructive thinking habits for a more positive outlook as they fight to step forward into their next chapters.

Andrea Vasquez continues to carve her unique, country music path in 2023 as she releases this song while readying her ’Nashville Hits The Roof’ Tour’ in March and April.
