With the release of her last single, the ultra-catchy “Runnin’ Late,” Owensboro, KY native Hayley Payne (known for her song “Dumb Blonde”) excelled her career path by miles when the accompanying music video received high acclaim and earned a mention from media giant CMT.

She now returns with “End in Boyfriend,” a song she’s releasing just in time for those lonely gal pals at Valentine’s Day who are on the verge on making a very poor, backward going decision.

The friend speaking truth to their friend anthem sees Payne wrapping her voice around another irresistible melody as she knowingly tells her best friend to not go back to an ex because the writing’s already on the wall as to how it will go and where it’s ultimately going to end up.

Convincingly, but in an almost pleading type of way, Payne drives through the verses by listing the many different red flag scenarios as flashing warning signs to hopefully stop her friend from making a regret-filled decision:

“He wants to take you on a date, but won’t name the time or place”

“The only label he likes is the long neck kind on a Friday night”

“He drops a 4-letter word, but his words are all slurred”

“Starts with a good morning text then you second guess it, thinking he knows best”

But as if those stark warnings weren’t already enough to sensibly get through to her friend, Hayley then hits the extremely catchy chorus and uses it to remind her that she’ll be the ex that he’s calling crazy and that he’ll get over her so casually; all which is perfectly designed to strike the ultra-memorable hook, “there’s a reason there’s an end in boyfriend.”

The vibey, float on the breeze melody really allows Payne to lean into the incredible tonality of her voice and grab hold of each line of the lyric to deliver them with finesse and a knowing honesty that instantly pulls the listener into the song as they begin to relive a similar moment of trying to stop their own friend from making this same mistake.

Hayley Payne has done a lot of things very right over the past few months with strategic song releases at precise times so that they when they land, they make tremendous impact and leave a long-lasting impression with the listeners through memorable lyrics and ultra-bouncy feels. “End in Boyfriend” continues that trend as it launches her another few miles ahead on her path and a notch closer to becoming one of country music’s next break out artists.
