It has been a rapid rise to national notoriety for talented singer-songwriter Megan Moroney.  Having been dubbed as a “2023 Artist to Watch” by Amazon, Pandora, Spotify and Country Now, she was also named as one of CMT”s Next Women of Country, named Country Central’s “2022 New Artist of the Year” as well as being recognized as SiriusXM’s “2023 Future Five”.

Her brand new single, “I’m Not Pretty”, promises to escalate her status as one of the brightest young stars in the genre to even greater heights.

Megan wrote the tune along with Ben Williams, Micah Carpenter, and Mackenzie Carpenter.  It is 100% true to the times in which the song was written, centering on the concept of an ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend keeping tabs on her through social media.

It’s a self-proclaimed true story (for the most part), a fun take on a topic that has become increasingly more common in recent years.  Social media is huge factor in many people’s lives, both professionally and personally, and the appeal (and success) of this song illustrates that very fact.

The lyrics are simple, relatable and cleverly written, while Megan’s voice is already quickly becoming one of this reviewer’s favorites in the genre today.

“Girl, let me guess, you don’t like how I dress

And you’re hating on the way I talk (bless your heart)

Give me a break, learn to sew, bake a cake

Take a walk and while you’re at it get lost”

“I’m Not Pretty” follows the incredibly successful single “Tennessee Orange”, which put Moroney on the country music stratosphere in 2022.   The tune was recently the #1 weekly streamed song by a solo female country artist and has tallied over 120 million total global on-demand streams to date while continuing to climb the country music charts.

The Georgia native is set to embark on her PISTOL MADE OF ROSES headlining tour this spring before hitting the road as support on Brooks & Dunn’s nationwide tour this summer.
