With her debut album STONES earning her much acclaim in 2021, Allie Colleen boldly introduced her incredibly gifted voice, extremely talented songwriting prowess, and her abilities to blend a vast range of influences into a collective sonic sound that defined the characteristics of her signature feel.

2022 was a year on monumental movement toward the next phase of her career, led by hot song releases “Halos and Horns” and “Feels Like,” which perfectly positioned her to strike out the gate of 2023 with her brand-new single, “Honest Man.”

Written by Allie, Kate Hasting, Vinny Vencent, and Lance Carpenter, the simple softness of the acoustic strum within the light sway of the melody expertly allows Allie to lace her distinctive, wavered vocal across the lyrics and add a vibey feel to them that engulfs the listener from the get-go.

Praising how meeting the right someone has changed everything in her life, she then spells out the best that he brings out of her by simply letting her be exactly who she’s meant to be, singing lines in the first verse, “You make me feel fragile and bulletproof,” “I give you the reins and you let me run free,” etc.

However, in her true edgier essence, Colleen turns the traditional cultural norm on its side when she flips the script of how to pop the question, challenging him in the chorus to act on his love for her by intriguingly going against the grain to propose to him as she reveals in the hook, “Put this ring on my hand, I’ll make you an honest man.”

She perfectly segues out of that first chorus and into the second verse to paint vivid pictures of what their life together will look like, including building a family, which is heralded by the amazingly well-crafted line that sees her embracing who she is while also admitting how much she needs him to become who she’s destined to be, “The father in you will make a mother in me.”

The violin adds an element of class to the simplicity of the acoustic led instrumentation, while they tenderly feed off one another to allow the transparent honesty that radiates through Allie’s voice to wrap around the sensitive, heartfelt lyrics and make this perfectly done love song a strong contender for first dance wedding playlists.
