Lake City, FL native Karley Scott Collins has released her latest single, the care-free anthem “Petty In The 80’s”.  The tune, offered through Sony Music Nashville, is available everywhere now.

Co-written with Brock Berryhill and Josh Miller, Collins tells the tale of letting go and free-falling, while paying homage to one of her biggest musical influences growing up.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Tom Petty and he’s always been a massive inspiration to the music I write,” she shared.  “It’s really cool and fun for me to get to reference and honor his music through this song.”

This tune, like so many of Tom Petty’s classics over the years, is a windows-down, three-minute escape from the worries of daily life and an ode to just letting go and enjoying yourself.  Be free, be happy, and the enjoy the ride, even when the road gets a little bumpy.

Karley’s vocals are on point as usual, and she sounds at ease singing alongside the up-tempo, breezy melody throughout the head-bopping, toe-tapping tune.

The lyrics are cleverly crafted, paying homage to the late Petty while also staying true to Karley to tell her own story:

“The way you hold me, the way you wreck me

You shake me up but keep me steady

You make the rain feel like confetti

No, I ain’t scared to hit the ground

‘Cause you ain’t gonna let me down”

“Petty In The 80’s” is the first release of 2023 for Collins, following 2022 singles “Better Strangers”, “Tattoos”, and “Heavenly”.  Since her move to Nashville, TN, she has worked with some of the best songwriters in town, as she continues to hone her craft and further establish her reputation as a bright young talent on the scene.

Having formerly introduced herself on tour with Nate Smith, Collins is putting together a strong team of some of the best agencies behind her as she continues to strive and excel to the next level of her career. With the look, sound, and talent that checks every box, Karley is undeniably one of the bright new faces to watch in country music.
