Charleston, IL native Matt Schuster is not wasting any time making a name for himself in country music.  Just months after moving to Nashville from his hometown, the breakout singer-songwriter is garnering the attention of fans and industry folks alike with his intuitive songwriting and gifted vocal talent.

His latest release, “Wasted Prayers”, is available on all streaming platforms now.

This song showcases Schuster’s undeniable vocal ability, range and talent, which seems utterly natural and effortless.  He has drawn some incredible comparisons to some of the best in the business in his short time in country music’s home, but with vocal performances like this track, it is understandable.

Even more is his ability to convey the mood and vibe of the song’s subject matter to beseech the thoughts and emotions from the listener.  Whether you are one of the biggest stars in the world or a young rising talent, that is one of the most difficult goals to achieve, and this small town Illinois native has been doing just that with release after release to this point.

Written by Schuster along with Jonny Price and Adam Yaron, the song conveys the frustration of feeling as though your prayers are going unanswered coupled with the loss of a relationship.  As is the case with a lot of tales of heartbreak, a combination of prayer and alcohol seem to be at the forefront of his efforts to cope.

“Chase a pull with another shot

Then bow my head and talk to God

Wake up sober and you’re not there

I’ve been prayin’ wasted prayers”

Thoughtfully written and incredibly delivered, “Wasted Prayers” checks all the boxes of a song that will surely garner the attention of new and old fans, along with industry reps and media alike…and rightfully so.

Schuster amassed over 60 million streams across his social media platforms with original tunes including “Know Ya”, “From The Start”, and “Who Are You Kidding?” prior to making the move to Music City, and is becoming a mainstream staple of Spotify’s Country Global chart with nearly every he has put out over the last two years, no easy feat for an independent artist.

Over recent years, the amount of talent coming to Nashville amongst aspiring singer-songwriters is unprecedented, and we certainly need to add this artist to that ever-growing list.  The future of country music is in good hands with rising talents like Matt Schuster.
