More than a decade after moving to Nashville, TN, singer-songwriter Charles Esten is widely known as one of the more well-rounded talents in Music City.  From his days as Deacon Claybourne on the ABC/CMT hit “Nashville” to his countless appearances at the Grand Ole Opry, he continues to encompass and engage himself in multiple avenues of the entertainment industry, from acting to singing to songwriting.

Fortunately for all of us, he has added a new song to his musical catalogue, with more on the way soon.  “One Good Move”, available everywhere now, is part of his forthcoming independent debut album.

Co-written with Sam Bacicoff, Zarni deVette, and Elise Hayes, Esten dedicated the tune to his wife of over 30 years.  This is no doubt a power ballad, with the rock edge and lyric focus of a true love anthem.

This is a perfect marriage between rock and country from musical arrangement and the instrumental accompaniment alongside Charles’ undeniably subtly powerful vocal range.  And the lyrics, of course, are thoughtfully constructed, telling the tale of a renegade’s trials and tribulations all the while reminiscing on just how lucky he is to have found the love of his life.  Of all of the mistakes he has made and the questionable behavior in which he engaged, he realizes that this is what he got right.

“If there was trouble I was getting into it

If there was something that I shouldn’t do you know I would do it

I was young, I was dumb, I was always on the run

Messed it up all the ones

Cause when I looked at you

I see my one good move”

Esten announced the release of the new song on “The Talk” on CBS recently, sparking the attention of fans across country music and beyond.  He has been a mainstay in Nashville since his move, having performed at the Grand Ole Opry over 150 times and tallying over 10 million career streams, while being regarded as one of the more talented songwriters in town.  If “One Good Move” is any indication, we are all in store for one of the more anticipated independent album releases of the year.
