Restless Road are certainly no strangers to the country music fans or radio.

The trio found mainstream paydirt with their incredible song “Growing Old With You,” achieving so much success that they re-recorded it as a wedding version that made its way to playlist after playlist to help people celebrate their big day.

But beyond that mainstream milestone, they’ve also built an incredibly strong fan base who exuberantly anticipates every release, which has caused Restless Road to seemingly up the ante with each song they gifted their fans in 2022; “On My Way” and “Sundown Somewhere.”

They now kick off this year with “I Don’t Wanna Be That Guy.”

Sticking hard to the formula that has clearly worked for them, the verses carry a soft pace that continuously bubbles underneath as it pushes toward the chorus, really allowing the emotions of the lyrics to be captured in bold showcase of their power-driven vocals.

We’re first taken straight to the local bar where it’s transparently shared, “I was cool with being single,” “the last thing on my mind was a ride or die,” and “I wasn’t trying to fall, wasn’t lookin’ for nothin’.”

As the old saying goes, though, it always arrives when you least expect it to and when you stop looking for it.

Everything about him changes in one life-altering moment when she walks in, as is outlined when we’re punched into the spitfire chorus and he tells of not wanting to be the Friday night guy her friends warn her about, the type who buys her a drink but never gets to know her, or the love and leavin’ kind.

As the night progresses and the clock continues to tick away, it’s shown just how much he’s already embracing the lust-filled changes that he’s feeling deep down inside when he laments, “I don’t even care where the old me went.”

Though it’s never actually established as to whether they end up with each other or not, that’s the beauty of this song. By leaving it open ended, it perfectly allows the listener to insert their own story and once again gives Restless Road a strong connection factor with their audience.

Their ultra-catchy rhythms, insatiable melodies, and uber relatable songs have perfectly wrapped around their signature harmonies to quickly elevate their status. “I Don’t Wanna Be That Guy” takes all these core elements and cranks them up a notch, and now has them standing confidently at the starting line and ready to impact radio in high rotation!
