Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and official member of the Zac Brown Band, Caroline Jones has been prepping her forthcoming studio album (slated for release fall 2023) as the hype continuously swirls around her and her latest batch of music.

Breaking through with the line dance favorite “Come In (But Don’t Make Yourself Comfortable)” may have been the first taste that many got of who Caroline Jones is, but her girl next door, softer toned material would shape her trajectory and escalate her quickly ahead on her path; songs such as “Getting To Me,”  “No Daylight,” and her latest single “Keep It Safe,” a well-received duet with Alyssa Bonagura.

She now returns with “Lawless,” giving us our second glimpse at things still to come.

The song, co-written by Jones with Pete Good and Brandon Ratcliff, leans on an insatiably progressive drumbeat that borrows its ideals from a rock based style to wrap around the simplicity of the driving rhythm of the verses, which skillfully allow Caroline to place her voice into the lyric as she poetically sings us through the feel-good, often exuberantly confusing blissfulness that being head over heels has on you, singing in the verses:

“Uncharted, no sense of direction, just chasin' a feeling for miles & miles & miles.”

“It's an anarchy of emotion.”

“Nothing's off limits, once you fall in it.”

Sliding into a clap along chorus that rests on a melody you can’t help but bounce along with, Jones uses several descriptives to further define the often unexplainable feeling as she sings of bending your own rules for it and uber creatively defining the carefreeness of it by singing “You care so damn much you couldn't care less,” before slapping home the declaration in the hook that love is like the wild wild West in that it’s lawless.

Providing a hopeful shot of inspiration to those who are still searching for love, telling them to keep going and never give up, she pops the bridge with the simple fact that while you might catch a thorn or a rose, if you stay on your toes and are quick on the draw then you’ll find what you’re looking for.

With so much chatter already surrounding her, and previous radio impact landing her high on the charts, 2023 is the breakout year for Jones. With songs such as “Keep It Safe,” and now with “Lawless,” she’s clearly rising to the occasion to meet the buzz head on and slap it home with a keep watching attitude that is going to immediately bring the hype to the next level come release day on this third album.
