Since releasing her debut album Travelin’ Kind in 2021, Ashland Craft has made a big mark on the county music scene, built up a tremendously solid foundation of diehard fans, and has continually brought more and more new ones into the fold.

“Make It Past Georgia,” “That’s The Kinda Place,” and “Your Momma Still Does,” solidified her as one of the genre’s strongest emerging talents, while high profile road dates with Zac Brown Band and Ian Munsick allowed her to showcase octane fueled performances, stellar vocals, and her endearing, country girl charm.

With the brooding, softer paced “Danced Wiith the Devil,” Craft now gives us the first taste of the highly anticipated new music that she’s been working on.

Dripping with moody, traditional country induced flare, Craft takes us straight to the regret-filled day after she allowed the metaphoric devil to catch her during a moment of weakness and pure vulnerability while working his way past her well-constructed walls.

Trying to convince herself as to why this dance with the devil even happened, she laments through the verses that there was something in the way he said her name that made them not feel like strangers and confessed that it’d been a while since she felt the way she did when he had her heart racing.

However, she very maturely faces the mirror of her decision in the chorus and doesn’t point the finger at anyone but herself for allowing this moment of unbridled sin to happen:

“In the heat of the moment

They way he was holding me made wrong feel right for a minute

My head on his shoulder pulling me closer, knew I should go on home but I didn’t

Yeah, I don’t know what I was thinking, but you were the last thing on my mind

But I danced with the devil last night”

Ashland Craft is one of country music most talked about rising stars for good reason. She clearly understands the uniqueness of her voice, knows how to use its built-in rasp to strike the proper emotional chords, and delivers pure country songs with enough modern kissed edge to make them intriguingly stand out while fitting perfectly alongside today’s mainstream country radio.

Couple all those reasons with the absolute fact that she’s one heck of an amazing songwriter, as she’s shown us yet again on “Danced With The Devil,” and you get a picture of what the next breakout star of country music looks like!
