ANDREW JANNAKOS
"Meet My Maker"
RCA Records Nashville
Since first making a major impact on the country music scene in 2020 with viral sensation “Gone Too Soon,” Andrew Jannakos has continued to captivate his growing fan base while keeping a strong media buzz swirling around him through highly acclaimed releases “Gettin’ There” and “Heaven’s Like a Hometown.”
Each song seems to purposefully build on the signatures that define the depths of his songwriting prowess, skillfully, as if by design, to further introduce the layers of his boy next charm through the incredibly heartfelt delivery that he wraps into his vocals to enhance every single word of every single line.
As he’s already shown on the previously released “Heaven’s Like a Hometown,” he’s not shy about wearing his faith-based ideals on his sleeve, which is exactly what he does again on his newest release “Meet My Maker.”
The song, co-written by Jannakos with Andy Albert, Karen Kosowski, and Emma Lee, sees perfect balance between his outdoors loving country being and his strong faith as he invites us to his middle of nowhere spot; the very place that he feels most connected to God.
An ultra-modern backbeat pulls from the pop country ideals of today to lean into a sway along groove through the opening verse that immediately hooks the listener as he paints the pictures of the early morning baptism he experiences in the “Lord’s creation” during the stillness of the sunrise whenever he’s feeling lost.
Through the juxtaposition that pits literally being out in the country against comparative church/faith references, Jannakos puts on a pure display of his powerful songwriting abilities through lines such as “The pines and crickets singin’ hallelujah” and “Grab a pole watch the slow river roll, like the Holy Spirit flowing through ya,” before boldly making it perfectly clear that God is found wherever you need Him to be, defining his own life-changing moments while in his nature surrounded heaven:
“When I’m way out here and my mind gets clear
I hear him whisper in the Georgia breeze
Where the trees stand tall and ya feel so small
It’s enough to make a man believe
I find my dirt road savior
On these untouched acres
Ain’t no church like nature, naw
Yeah, that’s where I meet my maker”
We all have somewhere like this in our lives. A place to quiet the noise, slow the pace, and get recentered through our faith and God’s gentle whisper. And therein lies the very core of the reason that Andrew Jannakos continues to connect so quickly with the listeners; he’s an everyday guy just like any one of us!
