In the same week that Luke Combs notched a historic 15th consecutive #1 song with “Going, Going, Gone,” he also continued to tease his forthcoming album Growin' Up (due on March 24, 2023) with the release of “5 Leaf Clover.”

The song, co-written by Combs, Jessi Alexander, and Chase McGill, stays in the pocket of the softer tones that we’ve gotten over the past few teasers – “Love You Anyway,” “Growin' Up and Gettin' Old,” and “Joe” – securing the sweet spot that’s really allowed him to lean into his voice and take its naturally rough around the edges grit into the emotional drive of each lyric.

Continuing to resonate with his fans through his blue-collar charm, he places positive perspective on the simple things to be appreciative for in life as he runs through a list of his own bullet points in each the verses, which includes lines such as:

“I go to work every Monday and get to do something I love”

“I make it home every evening to an angel God sent from above”

“I got a barn with a fridge full of cold beer and on the weekend, it’s full of good friends”

“I grew up in a good place to be from, my folks still got a bunch of good years”

However, it’s when he strides into the chorus with pure humbleness as he counts his blessings in an awestruck thank you note to the man upstairs that he absolutely elevates this song to incredible heights.

“I know I’m a lucky man

But I ain’t sure why I am

Cause it ain’t like anyone deserves

The world in the palm of their hand

I’ve hit my knees thankful as can be

But the one thing I can’t get over

Is how did a guy like me

Who’d of been fine with 3

End up with a 5-leaf clover”

Though “Love You Anyway” has been the teaser that’s garnered the most attention with a high rotation impact at radio, our early money was on “Joe” as the strongest song from this new batch…but now comes the inspirational charge of “5 Leaf Clover.”
